about the farm

Rainbow Deer Farm is owned and operated by Diane and Ross Lawrence on a 90-acre block on the fertile green hills of Neerim in West Gippsland, Victoria. The farm is stocked with Elite Red Deer.
Our breeding strategy at Rainbow Deer Farm is to pool the best bloodlines available.

We have sourced female stock and semen from the best sources available. These sources included imports from Windermere Red Deer Stud, Stanfield Bushy Park, Black Forest Park and Deer Genetics NZ as well as others.

Recently, we have introduced some eastern bloodlines from carefully selected sires. Our purpose is to add additional length to our beam and multiple tynes that characterize our English stock’s velvet. We have used the World record SCI holder - Tamar extensively to put even more beam and tynes into our stags. We have also identified our own sires with the genes for big frames.
We have bought in genes from the industry greats including, Ramasses, Duncan, Arthur, Charles Rupert, Andrew II, Tamar, Harvey, James, Terry, Lancelot, Motsumi, Neskey and many others.
The breeding and quality of our Deer has meant that Rainbow Deer Farm has figured prominently in both Victorian and National velvet competitions.

One of our Master sires, Linford, was judged as National Grand Champion stag on three occasions.

Other Rainbow Deer Farm sires, Frederick and Haddon have also been judged as Grand Champion Red Stags.
